Since Univalor was created, its activities have generated real economic pay-backs for its commercial partners, the researchers, the institutions it represents and the overall economic health of Québec and Canada.

We currently have:

  • About 50 commercial transactions under discussion
  • Almost 95 licences and technology transfers dealed
  • 24 spin-off companies launched
  • $166 million CAD of third-party investment on our spin-off companies
  • More than 919 intellectual property applications processed
  • More than 429 patents and patents pending
  • $14 million CAD in new research contracts generated for our member institutions
  • $8.9 million CAD in total revenues (2001–2009)
Univalor’s goal is to generate profitable direct and indirect pay-backs for researchers and their institutions. For example, net income generated by transfer of university inventions to industry is redistributed to the appropriate researchers, as well as to their institutions, in accordance with policies of intellectual property and applicable agreements.

In this context and in pursuit of its mission, Univalor benefits from financial support from the Ministère du développement économique, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation (MDEIE), the Economic Development Agency of Canada (CED), and from the financial and logistical contribution of each of the institutions it serves.
